Patrick "Pat" Williamson | Obituary | Winnipeg

PATRICK (PAT) WILLIAMSON
February 17, 1930 – December 23, 2019

With heavy hearts, we announce that Pat passed away suddenly on December 23, 2019 at the Grace Hospital at the age of 89 years.

Pat is survived by his wife of 60 years Margaret; daughters Erin Pearson (Murray) and Maureen Williamson of Winnipeg; sons Dr. Donald Williamson (Monika) of Simcoe, Ontario and Jeff Collver (Danielle) of Perth, Ontario. Pat was also a proud Poppa and Grandpa to grandsons Sam, Ben, Graham, and Adam and is survived by his brother Bruce and sister Tanis. He was predeceased by his father Lawrence Williamson, much beloved mother Florence Williamson, and sister Marion.

Dad was born and grew up in the Pas, Manitoba and the North always remained an important part of his identity.  This was where he developed his lifelong love of nature and the outdoors, sports and a good rye whiskey. Most of all, Dad enjoyed a close and loving relationship with his parents and siblings which shaped the family man he was to be.

After meeting and marrying Margaret and a short residence in Cranberry Portage, Pat moved with his wife and two young daughters to Pinawa, Manitoba in 1963 and began his career with Atomic Energy of Canada. The birth of his son Donald in 1965 sealed the deal, and Pat and Margaret called Pinawa home until moving to Winnipeg in 2013.

Dad loved walking and riding his bike, curling, hunting, watching sports (especially Saturday night hockey games!), and took pride in his yard and garden.  Later in life, as he and Mom spent winters in Texas, he developed a love for competitive pool playing.  Dad also had a creative side and enjoyed drawing and wood carving.  He loved to save a dollar, plan his next car purchase, and could eat chocolate all day long!

The family would like to thank the staff at the Tuxedo Villa nursing home, especially Station 2 and the recreation crew, for taking such good care of Dad and providing him with so many opportunities for some fun and good company.

Friends and relatives are encouraged to share in a photo-tribute, eulogy, stories and condolences for the family by visiting Pat’s memorial page at EthicalDeathCare.com

In accordance with Pat’s wishes, cremation has taken place and his family will celebrate his life in his beloved Pinawa at a future date.
